It’s the largest greenfield music and arts festival in the world. With the numbers this year topping a staggering 203,000.

It’s an icon of the events industry, and is widely heralded as one of the best live experiences you can get. But what’s it like behind the scenes?

There have been ups and downs, from its first year in 1970 with just 1,500 tickets sold, to the behemoth it is today. Extremes in weather, from swampy to sunny. Unrest amongst festival goers. And become unpopluar with the local population to name a few.

But year on year the event has weathered the storm and continues to grow and be a resounding success.

We recently came across a Desert Island Discs interview with Emily Eavis, the current festival organiser and daughter of the founder, Michael Eavis, who still works on the festival.

For a sneak peek behind the scenes, we’d definitely recommend giving this one a listen:
